A Pleasant Distraction ~

We needed a distraction...the fires have put us all on edge, and even Jordyn was picking up on the vibe!  But what could we do that was close to home, and help get us out of our rut...how about an adventure to Dowdy Lake!
Our mailman isnt coming up the canyon (roads blocked anyways), so if we have any mail, we have to take it to Red Feather...so, while we were over there yesterday, we stopped in the library and signed up for the summer reading program.  We picked up some picture books for Jordyn, and for me, "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. Then we headed over to Dowdy Lake...
Jordyn was very excited when we got there and she realized i had brought her bike for her to ride!  Grandma and Grandpa put new tires on her bike, so she couldnt wait to try it out...but first, she wanted to take a photo of mommy...cheese!
We had a great afternoon at Dowdy...she climbed rocks, waded in the lake, collected rocks and crayfish claws, and even got to see some baby ducks.  The weather was beautiful, despite the ominous clouds to the south, and we had a beautiful afternoon!
On our way home, we stopped by the Red Feather Super and we got some ice cream cones and she bought some little toy mermaids with her tooth fairy money...a wonderful distraction, indeed!

Sounds like a lovely time out - hope distractions aren't needed for too much longer and the fire is soon under control. I really enjoyed the Night Circus - will be interested to hear if you like it!
