Trunk or Treat!

Trunk or Treat practically doubled in size this year and it was fantastic!  There were sooo many creative trunks to visit this year!  Alas, it was miserably windy, but died down just long enough for us to do our thing! :)
This was Mrs. Canby's "trunk" and they handed out s'mores treats for their candy...too cute!  Then of course, Jon Kamm came up and created this spooky trunk...
there was a coffin inside, fog machine, and lots of bones and spiderwebs inside.  The kids had to climb inside to get their treat.
Robin had a little cemetery going on in her trunk, complete with giant spider...and there were soooo many others...

Lots of families came out to participate in the fun, and everyone had a great time!  I was a little sad however, as my trunk was decorated with a bunch of light up items, which were lost in the sunlight that was harshly shining into my trunk!  But folks still appreciated it!  Jons trunk was the big hit though.....just look at the line to get in there...
and heres a shot of Jordyn inside the trunk....too cool!
There was also a haunted house, zombie tag and other games put on by the library, but most of all the kids just ran around and had fun!
After trunk or treat we met up with some friends at the pot belly to have dinner.  Lisa was in town from Texas, so it was great to visit with her!  Justin was playing with the band that evening, but not until later, so Jordyn and I decided not to stick around and went home.  But a great time was had by all!
Oh...and i just have to share this hilarious Monty Python costume that was there...i have no idea who this was, but i sure loved his costume!  :)  Happy Halloween!!!

Pumpkin Carving Time ~

We picked up two beautiful pumpkins for carving this year...and as always, Jordyn and Daddy prepped the pumpkins, for me to carve!  We played Scared Shrekless and Sleepy Hollow to inspire us while we carved!

Jordyn designed and cut out her very own warrior cat pumpkin, and i carved out a sugar skull!

I think they both came out fun!  Now we are ready for Halloween!

Fall Festival ~

The Fall Festival was kicked off in classrooms as kids got dressed up in their costumes...and i have to say, they all looked fabulous!
The kids enjoyed lots of different games and activities in the gym and then they headed out on the nature trail to trick or treat...oh, and guess who i was this year...

Yes...Mona Lisa was a big hit...but heres a photo of the kiddos that won the costume contest this year....Bella, Jade and Jordyn.  They each received a stuffed animal as a prize!

The parents scatter around on the nature trail to hand out candy, and then the kids walk the trail to collect candy.  The fun part is, if they finish up quickly, they can go around again...so they really start to pick up the pace at the end!

The kids had a great time, and so did all the parents!  Another great time at Red Feather Lakes Elementary!

Golden Fun ~

Jordyn and I went to Christy's this weekend, and we decided to do something new!  We've been talking about visiting the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum for quite some time, so we headed to Golden to check it out!  I forgot just how cute this little town is...its probably been 20 years since I've been here.  Way back when, we used to bring all visitors from out of town here to go on the Coors brewery tour, but I cant remember the last time we just walked around the town.

The quilt museum was small, but filled with all kinds of great quilts!  Displayed was their 25th Anniversary Quilt Challenge, along with some other quilts from their permanent collection, so there was a lot to see!

We enjoyed all of the quilts in the museum, but this quilt by Pat Hubbard caught all of our eyes!

Here are some detail shots of the quilt...

After the museum, we walked around town a bit, when we noticed a big banner for the 2015 Rocky Mountain National Watermedia show at the Foothills Art Center, which was scheduled to end on Sunday, so we thought we would catch that show before it was gone too!
I'm so glad we did!  Not only was the art fabulous, but the Foothills Art Center building was gorgeous too!  Its an old church that has been converted to a gallery, and there was all kinds of beautiful stained glass inside.

This piece, which was inspired by Gustav Klimt's, The Kiss, was one of my favorites, but there were so many stunning pieces in the show!  I only took a few photos though, before I noticed a very small sign stating "no pictures" (well, actually Christy pointed it out to me, because i didnt even see it).

This round piece, titled "Elements of Culture" was one of Jordyns favorites.
Outside was this fun sculpture, where Jordyn conducted a bunch of rabbits! :)
Then we walked around town a bit more to check out all the cute shops and have some lunch.
We sat on a patio outside the restaurant where they had this fun bar style table.  We sat people watching while enjoying our lunch and shared lots of laughs!  We enjoyed buffalo wings (which Jordyn loves) Jordyn had a pizza, Christy had a burger and I had fish tacos!  YUM!

After lunch we wandered into a few more shops, checked out a candy store, an old school toy store, a fabric store, and of course a cupcake shop, where Jordyn and Christy stopped for dessert!
We popped into a liquor store to pick up some wine and discovered this super cool R2D2 display!  Folks are getting pretty excited for the new Star Wars movies to come out!  :)
After our adventures in Golden, we headed to Aunt Gwens house for some fun!  The cousins were there, so Jordyn had a blast!  It was another great time in the city!
