Father's Day Fun ~ Go Fly A Kite!

For breakfast we made Daddy's favorite...Huevos Rancheros!  Then after presents, it was time for fun with cousins that were up visiting for the weekend!  High water finally dropped a bit, so they all had a go on the rope swing!  weeeeeeee!
There was a lovely breeze, perfect for flying a kite, so thats what we did next...
Jordyn had a great time playing with her cousin Parker...she loves being the bigger cousin for a change :)

They enjoyed Justin's mad kite flying skills, and then Jordyn gave it a try.

Here there be dragons!
And then it was time for a ride in the screamer...Parker LOVED it!
What a great day!  Thanks for being such a fabulous father Justin...we love you!  :)

47 ~

We had fabulous weather for my birthday today!  Christy came up for a short visit bearing gifts...and we also enjoyed some bloody marys and conversation!

These are the lovely flowers she got me, and i planted them in my wheelbarrow.
She also added some goodies to the fairy garden...this cute little Bear Hugs sign and of course, what garden would be complete without an outhouse!

I also got a gift card to barnes and noble...thanks christy, you truly are the best!  :)  While we were enjoying our cocktails outside, this cute Common Merganser and her ducklings swam by!
The water was running rather swiftly and the mom decided to swim across the river...we didnt think these two little guys were going to make it, but they raised themselves up high on the water and quickly skittered across to catch up with mom!  It was amazing!
And here they are safely on the other side!  It was fabulous to witness, and i hope they swim by again soon.
Meanwhile, my lupine finally bloomed in my garden...a first for them, so that was a treat!  Christy left around 7:30, and i spent the rest of the evening painting watercolors of my garden.

Im a little rusty, but it felt good to be creative!  I hope i can continue this all summer...i love painting! :)

Girl Scout Geo Cache Hike ~

The library hosted a geo cache adventure for our girl scout troop today, and it was the perfect day to be on a hike!
First we did some review with our compasses, and then we tried to follow the directions down elf lane to find our first cache!

It should be up these rocks about 10 feet girls...
FOUND IT!
The next marker took us across this swampy area blooming with lots of wild iris...very pretty!
And we found our 2nd marker...hiding under the gnome!  :)
If you haven't tried geo caching, you really should...its like going on a treasure hunt!
After our hike we enjoyed a picnic in the shade...Big THANKS goes out to Darlene from the library for a great day!  Cheers ~

Denver Run ~

Christy and I planned a craft weekend with our friends, however, since most of us hadn't seen each other in almost a year, we didn't do any crafting, and instead, spent all our time visiting!  Naturally, there were tasty snacks and cocktails involved!  Mimosas for breakfast...
and wine and cheese in the afternoon!  (pardon the dark photos, these were taken with the camera phone).  It was a very relaxing time, and we hope to do it again soon!  On Sunday, Christy and I met up with Aunt Gwen and hit the garden center.  They had some wonderful garden goodies, including these garden posts and the giant velociraptor!   I would love to have him out on the island...perhaps i should start a velociraptor fund...he's only $2,000 bucks!  :)  I took photos of these garden poles though, as i would love to make my own and put it in the garden somewhere!

Anyways, after shopping we enjoyed lunch at Coronas...a wonderful relaxing visit with great people!  Thanks for the great time Christy!  Love Ya!
