Meet the New Preschoolers ~

We have a great group of preschoolers this year!  Looking forward to another fun year!  Sharon and i are feeling much more confident entering our 3rd year, and we are excited to try some new things with the kids this year!  Preschool ROCKS!  :)

Catch and Release ~

 The river dropped quite a bit today, so it was time for Justin and Jordyn's Catch and Release tradition!  Every year some fish get trapped in our pond when the water drops, and there is not enough room or food for them to survive, so they "fish" them out and take them to the main channel of the river to save them.

 The best part is...they do it with their bare hands and a net!  

 Kato was quite interested in the whole process...

looks like they've caught another one...i think that makes 3!

 Now Fuzzy begins to show interest!

  We caught both rainbows and browns...and we considered keeping a few for dinner, but thought these little guys deserved to live a little longer...so off to the other side of the island with them...

 and away they go!

First Day of Fourth Grade ~

 Little Miss started 4th grade today!  She was being very serious for the photos, but she lost a tooth last night and I don't think she wanted to give me a big smile!  :)

 She picked out this outfit because it came with a scarf...and she loved the scarf!  I don't blame her...I think its cute too!

 We took our traditional photos on the porch and then headed off to school!  We forgot to take our picture outside of the preschool room, so i guess we'll have to do that tomorrow....one day wont hurt i suppose :)

City Park Pool ~

 I've had two solid weeks of training before school starts, so I havent been available to do any last minute fun things with Jordyn, so i was thrilled when Sharon offered to take her for a sleepover and a trip to the pool!  They spent several hours there and had so much fun....Jordyn said her favorite part was the slides....

 did i mention the slides?  WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

 Several mountain moms and kids met up there, so it was like a big end of summer bash for the kids!

Poudre School District Kick Off!

 Well, I'm not sure if I ever posted on this blog or not, but i recently was hired on to be the Media/Tech teacher at Red Feather!!! Woohoo!  It will be after Preschool hours, so i will be doing both jobs!  Anyways, PSD had their big "kick off" for the new school year at the Budweiser event center, and it was a blast!

 Our Superintendent, Dr. Smyser, spoke to the crew, and then she invited our keynote speaker, Mark Hoag, onto the stage!  His speech was wonderful and i think we were all inspired!

 Its gonna be a great year!

Campfire and Some Trout ~

  Jordyn went fishing with Grandpa Frank today and came home with two trout!  She waited till i got home from training and then they cooked em up in the microwave to eat!

 She was kind enough to give us a few bites :)

 It was such a beautiful night we decided to have a fire and enjoy the stars...speaking of stars, Jordyn and I snuck out at about 4 in the morning to check out the Perseid Meteor shower and caught the tail end of it.  We laid a blanket out in the meadow and looked up at the sky together in our pj's...it was a blast! We saw several before we decided we were too cold and went back inside!  Gotta love living in the mountains!

Catching a Rainbow!

Brand New Camera!!!

 I finally ordered a new camera!!!!  My poor Nikon was getting soooo old, and it just didnt pull color like the newer cameras do, so i saved and saved and finally splurged on a new LUMIX.  Anyways, it arrived this week and I took a few photos to break it in...

 Im just loving the rich color and sharp quality to the pics!!!

 and of course...my favorite subject....Jordyn!

 Im still breaking in the camera and learning how to use all the settings...who am i kidding, that will take me forever....but I'm pretty pleased with the results so far!  What do you think?  I'm thinking it was worth it to save my Christmas, Birthday and Mothers Day money for it!!!!  :)

Climbing Wall ~

 Jordyn spent 3 nights in town with Grandma and Grandpa Bruen over the weekend, and they had all kinds of fun!  Her cousin Daniel, who she hasn't seen in a long time, was visiting, so they had a great time together!  They had lots of adventures, but this was her favorite part about the visit!

 They even tried rock climbing blind folded!  Go Jordyn, Go!
