Happy Halloweeeeeen!!!!!

Our Fall Festival was on Halloween, and all the kids dressed up to enjoy the fun!  I was in charge of the event, so i was busy all day setting up and getting things ready...but i still managed to get suited up for the big party!
We had 9 different booths the kids could enjoy, and here are a few pictures of Jordyn enjoying them...

At the end of the festival, the parents head out to the nature trail with buckets of candy, and the kids wander along the trail trick or treating.  If theres enough candy, the kids can make the trip around two or three times...so they really have to work for their candy...but i dont think they mind :)
After cleaning up the gym from the party, we headed over to the library for fun activities there.  They had a few games to play, a candy apple station and the big hit this year...the haunted house!  This was Jordyns first time going into a haunted house, and she LOVED it!  All the kids did!  They kept going back for more, and then a few of them stayed inside to scare others.  The poor little bee in the group shot came out terrified (it was hilarious!)
Heres a shot of Rhaine and I, modeling our monochromatic color scheme (with matching pants)...
It started to get cold fast...so we started trunk or treat a bit early...
Just look how much loot these kids have in their bags...Nicole can barely hold hers its so full!  :)
This is the libraries 3rd year doing trunk or treat and we were happy to be outside again (last year we had to go inside due to wind).  The community really gets into the fun, decorating their trunks and getting in costume...
some a little fancier than others :) heheheheh   I love the message finger painted in the dirt on Dave's window here...these two look more like they're at a tailgating party!
But everyone had a great time!
Heres my trunk...and if you can believe it...after the kids made numerous laps around the parking lot, i still went home with that green bowl full of candy!
We stopped at Archer's on our way home, where Connie let Jordyn pick out anything she wanted in the store...she chose a bag of spicy cheetos! (while i grabbed a frozen pizza since i had no dinner planned out, nor the energy to cook).  Then we went to Aunt LeAnns for much needed cocktails and fun!  Mena came over to join us for a drink, and we all relaxed while Jordyn went through her goodie bag from Aunt LeAnn.  Then i headed down to the house to get the pizza started, popping in on an unsuspecting Chips the Racoon, who had eaten all of our cats food and had started on our trash!  I shooed her out of the house and started dinner.  What a super full day of Halloween activities...I was absolutely wiped out!  But in a good way!  Gnite everyone!  Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving ~

I received this cute little flower arrangement from Christy today and i just love it!  Shes been having a rough time with work and her dad being sick, and i think she feels bad bending me ear about it, so she sent me this Thank you for listening gift.  (the note that came with it was super sweet...but i was just excited to get something delivered to me at work...talk about feeling special) Thank you right back at ya Christy...you are awesome and so are the flowers :)
Now onto more pumpkins...carving time!

This first pumpkin is one of Jordyns designs...
Then i did the Oogie Boogie Man from Nightmare Before Christmas...
and then Jordyn created her very own Tardis that she drew from scratch...she wasnt too happy with it at first, but then she got some toothpicks and was able to make it more to her liking!
All in all, another wonderful bunch of pumpkins!  :)  Bring on Halloween!!!

Pumpkin Patch Fun ~

On our way home from Christy's house, we decided to pick up some pumpkins, and what better place than Bartels Pumpkin Patch!  Pardon the grainy pictures...i forgot my camera (yeah, i know...hard to believe eh!), so i had to use my kindle!
Jordyn jumped around on the hay bales for a while, and then we went on a hayride!  We had a whole trailer section to ourselves and it was awesome!

Jordyn really loved this little goat and kept going back to pet him...i have to admit he was really cute!
We went to the patch late this year, so pumpkin pickins were slim...but we finally found a couple good ones to bring home and headed back up the canyon!

Boo at the Zoo ~

Went down to Denver for Boo at the Zoo on October 25th!  We got there 1/2 an hour before they opened, and they were already letting folks in, so we scored a great parking space, and enjoyed the zoo before hardly anyone was there!
It was a gorgeous day...nice and cool in the morning, but then it warmed up to 85 degrees.  A great day to be at the zoo!
Jordyn trick or treated at a lot of booths, played some games, and had a good time checking out all the animals!

This new tapir was born in May (when my preschool came for a visit), so i was excited to have Jordyn meet him.  Baby Baku was hanging out with mom, basking in the sun, so we got a good view of him.  Jordyn liked him so much, she bought a stuffed Baku at the gift shop on our way out and its adorable :)

The monkeys were probably my favorite!  One of the zoo curators came out and told us to make sure we check out the monkeys inside, as they just received their "Halloween enrichment!"  And boy, did they ever!  They had pumpkins, jack o lanterns, trick or treat bags and buckets, streamers and other assorted goodies, and they were totally fascinated with them!
This is Sally...shes in her 30's and was totally hilarious!  She sniffed around in this bucket and when she realized it was empty, she focused on the pumpkin.
She banged and banged on the pumpkin until it broke open...then she decided she didnt like it!  :)
Inside primate panorama, this little orangutang was swinging around on the ropes looking in all the treat bags and then she decided to decorate herself in the orange and white streamers!
Then in another exhibit, this guy was totally munching down on this jack o lantern, when his little "ghost" buddy ran over to him and scared him!
hahahahha...take a good look at the ghost...he's wearing Harry Potter sheets!  :)
Not a lot of people knew what Jordyn's costume was, so we were very excited when we ran into a Dalek and the Tardis!  The kids were happy to pose for a photo!

This talking pumpkin was hilarious!  There was a hidden camera somewhere, so he could see you when you walked up to him, and he would start chatting with you.  He recognized the "Doctor", and happily took a photo with us!  He also thanked us for putting his pants back on, as the orange sheet had blown off and me and another guy helped put it back up...that made us all laugh!

What another great Boo at the Zoo adventure!  After the zoo, we hit up Barnes and Nobles for some new books, and then went back to Christy's for a Doctor Who marathon and Chinese food leftovers that we had ordered the night before!  Thanks for an awesome time Christy!
