Doll Quilt Swap 9 ~

Hurrah...Bonnie received her quilt today, so i can finally post some photos of the quilt i made her for the miniature quilt swap on about.com. The pattern is from the book, Big N'Easy Mini Quilts by Christiane Meunier, and its the second time ive used this design. The colors didnt turn out quite right in the photo, but its lavenders and purples....hence the name....

Anyways, just wanted to share proof that i have been quilting...and this is my first completed quilt for 2010. Off to a slow start...but a start nonetheless!

Meanwhile, we are down in Denver again for a city fix and to blow off a little cabin fever...and look at this cute little sleepover set Jordyn got from Christy...a tinkerbell nightlight, tinkerbell sleeping bag, and of course a tinkerbell sleeping mask. Now bedtime is complete! (and speaking of bedtime....gnite!) :)

Wordless Wednesday

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day over here at the Black Bear Cabin...pajama lounging with Bloody Mary's all morning, followed by a delicious breakfast of crepes and sausage made by Justin, then we went outside to enjoy the sunshine...ice skating, sledding and goofing off. We actually opened our Valentine's gifts yesterday...it was snowy and gray outside, so we decided to liven up the place a day early :) Plus, Justin received two new movies, I,Robot & Night at the Museum 2...so we wanted to watch those.
Jordyn got two new polly pockets, a chocolate heart from Daddy, 3 new books and another hot wheel for her track. (But the best part was when i handed her the bag...just before she looked inside, she said, "i hope there's chocolate")
Justin cleaned the house yesterday for me, and since the weather was crappy on Saturday, we didnt get to go pick up our new bed :( But just the thought of sleeping on a new mattress soon, excites me :) And then, a few hours ago, the grandparents offered to take Jordyn for a sleep-over! Hurrah! So now we have the night off! I hope your Valentine's Day was happy, and spent with the ones you love! Cheers~

Spooky Exploration ~

Spooky got a little too adventurous this weekend...but she eventually figured out how to get down and had a great day! :) Still cant post any photos of the miniature quilt im working on for the swap on about.com...but the top is finished, so it wont be long now.

Hand Delivered Salmon ~

Justin's cousin Anna was out visiting from Alaska this weekend...and she brought a bunch of salmon with her, creating a fabulous dinner for us one night...check out this yummie dish...

She prepared the salmon 5 different ways, and each was yummier than the next!

We shared stories, laughs, cocktails and more laughs...even Great Grandma Berdena stayed up a little late to enjoy the fun!

Jordyn had a great time with her cousins, and Jack taught her how to two step.

While Jordyn and Jack were dancing...

Anna and her friend Amanda made salmon dip with the leftovers.

When it was getting late, we took the rest of the party down to the black bear cabin, where we played music and goofed off. Here is a shot of Amanda playing the didgeridoo.

Naturally we did some late night sledding...

Jack had a little trouble staying on his sled :)

Winter Oasis 2010 ~

Winter Oasis is an SCA event that we attend every year. This annual hafla brings together all of our friends, many of whom we havent seen since the summer months. What can i say, we dont get out much in the winter :) We contemplated not going this year...sooo many projects to do around the house, too tired, dont feel like driving down the mountain...you know...those lame excuses that keep you cooped up during the chilly months. Well, at the last minute, we decided to go...and i am REALLY glad we did! Look at all the fun we would have missed...

Here is a shot of Donovan and i...my old roommate, and Jordyn's godfather. One of my best friends and a fantastic musician!

This is Jordyn's godmother, Christy...my cousin and best friend. She appears often in my blog, as we always stay at her house when we go to town to get our city fix!

And here is Jordyn sneaking onto the dance floor during one of the performances. She was so excited to watch the women dance and wanted to boogie with all of them. She even learned a few new moves!

And of course, the family photo...which was difficult to get, since Justin was playing music the whole time.
Its the perfect gathering during these dreary winter months...its filled with color, music, dancing, laughter, magic, and great food! Hope you enjoyed the ride :)
