1% Well Read Challenge ~ A Room With A View

Book 4 of the 1% Well Read Challenge : A Room With A View by E.M. Forster
i tried to read this book several years ago, and just couldnt get into it. i decided to give it another try...after all, i hadnt seen the movie yet, and thought it would be fun to read the book first.
Well, im glad i stuck with it...once again, it started out really slow for me, but then it really picked up and i found i couldnt put the book down. Its hard to imagine living as they did then...the way women were treated, the pompous high society folk, their prudish ways...so it was fun to see Lucy's behavior in all of it. I loved the settings, and i look forward to seeing Forster's vision portrayed in the movie. Im glad i gave this book another try :) This was by far the best of the 4 books i have read for this challenge so far!

Ive Got the Blues....

Blue fabric that is...the fabric i ordered to complete the string quilt arrived. The batik fabric is for the border, and the snowflake flannel fabric is for the back. I ordered it thru fabric.com. Ive never ordered from them before, but they had a wonderful selection of flannel fabrics and at a reasonable price, so i gave them a shot. I am pleased with the fabrics, and will most likely order from them again...so if you are looking for flannel check em out!

Meanwhile, since Jordyn started preschool, naturally...she caught her first cold...which she generously passed on to us. She no longer has a fever, but a super runny nose, so she is staying home from school this week. I believe i have filled my flu quota for the decade, and decided to write off September along with August :) This bug was nothing compared to the one i had previously though! Most of my friends are dealing with colds right now...tis the season i suppose. Anyways, hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

String Quilt Squares...

Well, i am finally on the mend...apparently...to quote the doctor...i had, "the crud"! After an entire month and a 20 pound weight loss, I am feeling much better :) I still have moments of lightheadedness...but thats nothing compared to the way i felt a few weeks ago! Whatever this little virus was...it was miserable, and i hope no one else gets it.
Anyways, since i was feeling better...and Jordyn was off with the grandparents for the night, i decided to work on some of these string quilt squares...made entirely out of scraps! I won 64 of these from Kate back in January, but i want the quilt to be bigger, so im making a few more squares to add to it. This will be the first quilt i keep, so we are all excited about it! Justin wants a REALLY LARGE quilt that we can all curl up under on the couch in the winter, so a nice heavy quilt will be perfect...im even thinking of a flannel back to make it extra warm :)
Fall is definitely in the air...yesterday we woke up to 45 degree weather...so that has inspired me to finish the quilt too :)
Hope you all have a wonderfully creative weekend!

Another Project Finished...

I made three Halloween table runners last year, but never got around to finishing the binding on this one, so here it is now :) Its reversible, and i really love the fabric on the back! Its a gift for my cousin, so she can happily display it this Halloween at her place! Hope she likes it! Now...back to that pile of UFO's!

First Day of School!

Jordyn's first day of preschool was today, and she LOVED it!
She'll be going two days a week for 3 hours, which is great, because there arent any children in the canyon, so this way she gets some kiddo time, as well as the classroom environment!

I thought she might have trouble being left at school, but when we pulled into the parking lot, she saw a friend from the library, and ditched us to hold her hand and walk over to the classroom.

Here she is in awe of her new room...eye candy everywhere!

Her first homework assignment...

And here she is with her new teacher...Ms Bev!
