New Quilt for Jordyn

Well, i did quite a bit of quilting, binding, and pinning on several projects this weekend. My cousin Christy, aka Jordyn's Godmom, was up for a visit, so we took turns entertaining her while we worked. I captured this very sweet moment of them coloring together, both almost falling asleep in the process.
Christy finished this fun flannel quilt for Jordyn, and as you can see, she loves it!(as does daddy). And what perfect timing...its been in the 20's every morning...brrrrrrr!

I finished quilting my ALQS quilt, but i dont have any photos...perhaps later today? I was planning on hand quilting it, but decided to try out my cousins Pfaff machine while she was here, and WOW...does that thing sew like a dream. So smooth and quiet...very fun indeed. I should have tried out some fancy stitches, but since the design is rather busy, i decided a simple stitch in the ditch was what it needed.

And finally, here are some I-spy fabrics i received in a swap on about.com. There are roughly 150 squares here...and with the ones Anne sent me, and the blocks from my neighbor, i should have enough to make a few I-spy quilts. Thanks again ladies!
Now im off to do some more crafting, as its my free day (Jordyn is at Grandma and Grandpas)...so perhaps ill have more goodies to post soon!
cheers~

Birthday Memory Quilt

Here are the squares we collected for Berdena's 90th bday Memory Quilt. (Of course, she turns 91 in November, but you know how it goes...getting folks to finish their square is like herding cats). There are still two blocks on the way (supposedly), and then i will make a dedication block to have an equal number of squares. She wants a wall hanging, with two sides, so she can flip it over from time to time...so i will have 16 on front and 16 on back.(she has very limited wall space, and doesnt want it to go on her bed). I purchased a dark blue batik for the sashing...so im almost ready to get started on it.
We had a luncheon yesterday with the family, so Berdena brought out her squares to share with them...thats how i was finally able to get this shot :) She has been taking them everywhere with her to share with friends and family, but she is anxious to see them sewn together, so now they are in my possession. Stay tuned for updates!
In the meantime, here is a shot of Jordyn enjoying all the yummy desserts the family made!

A Beautiful Summer Day!

Yesterday was a perfect day for playing in the pool...or at least Jordyn thought so! I have been playing catch up all week since Rogue Camp, so today was a great day to wander around outside and enjoy the afternoon. The end of Rogue Camp usually signals the end of summer...when things start to become quiet and slow down. We have less visitors, and the weather begins to cool off a bit with more days of rain. But yesterday was perfect! Not a cloud in the sky. I LOVE living up here, and as my favorite season approaches, i get excited with plans of crafting, quilting, and painting! And speaking of quilting...here are a few photos from this years local quilt and craft show. It was a beautiful exhibit, as always, and i enjoyed the rest of the goodies at the craft fair also. It was scheduled the same weekend of Rogue, but i found a little time to sneak away and check it out :) Besides, i had to buy my chainsaw bear for the house, i buy one every year to represent how many years ive lived up here, and they make a nice addition to the Black Bear Cabin! This years bear is holding a big red heart. Anyways, not too much in the quilting arena right now...im taking a bit of a break before i jump in to the next ALQS swap run by Kate. I rcvd my partners info, and ive picked out a pattern already...what fun! Stay tuned for teasers of my progress!

Its Here...My ALQS quilt!

Hurrah!!! While i was camping, a package arrived for me from the Isle of Man! Loulee, a friend i met in blogland, rcvd my name in the ALQS, and this is the lovely quilt she created for me. Isnt it wonderful...sooo very bright and cheery! And look, she even hand embroidered a label for it on the back, conveniently titled, "friendship"!

A quilt from anyone participating in the swap would have been great, but the fact that its from someone i blog with already, makes it extra special! Other goodies were also included in the package...some lovely batik fabrics, a fun souvenir wall hanging of the Isle of Man, and of course some candy buttons...which you can see, have already been torn open to sample :) Jordyn has already gobbled up one bag!
This is the first quilt i have ever received as a gift, so it is quite a treasure to me! Thank you VERY much Loulee! I love it! And thank you Kate, for putting together such a wonderful swap. Now...looks like i better get back to work on mine :)
Cheers~
