More Crazy Quilting...

Two more blocks completed for the second round of crazy quilt swapping! These are both for Lou...she was brave and signed up for two rounds which means she will have to make twice as many blocks...yikes! Im having a hard time completing one set :) Anyways, i hope she likes them. Im in Denver getting my city fix. I couldnt have picked a hotter weekend...but im inside, with air conditioning, good company, and a cold beer :) I get so used to the secluded mountain life, that when we have an onslaught of guests(which happens every summer), i tend to get burned out and need to escape my own home. Funny that i go to the city to do that :) I plan to keep busy though, as i brought my Wacom tablet and my embroidery. What an unusual combination!
cheers~

Busy Weekend!

We had some folks drop by our house this weekend...they were on a mission to find the Black Bear Cabin, a house they lived in, in the 1940's. Leola, a sweet lady, lived here when she was 10, and she wanted to get a peek at her old stompin' grounds.
She showed me this old black and white photo, from her travels up this way back in 1965, and she was kind enough to let me make a copy of it. When she lived here, the large picture windows had not been added in yet, that was something Justin's Grandfather added later.
I guess the place has changed quite a bit since then :)

Pay no attention to all the junk we have scattered around the yard...its been one of those weeks...er...summers! :)
I worked all weekend at the Resort, so its been a crazy weekend all around! I did manage to get a few more squares embellished for the second crazy quilt swap.

Faye wanted black and white, with black, white but mostly red embellishments...her theme...think 60's! I think i came pretty close to that, especially with the Alexander Henry fabric in the middle :)

Cheryl wanted a cream and white block with pink to burgandy embellishments. Unfortunately, this photo looks rather yellow, and it is much prettier in person. I was going for a bit of a garden theme here...hope she likes it!
Anyways, thats about it up here on the mountain...hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Jordyn turns 2!

Its been crazy busy up here, so i havent posted in a while. After our camping trip, we had nonstop company and going-ons. We decided to have a little BBQ for Jordyn's second birthday. Originally we were going to go to Denver and do a little dinner with family out there, but my sister came out to visit from Cali, so we had something up here instead.

Here is a shot of Jordyn with her first bike from Grandma Barbara, one of many presents from Grandma B :) She sent out an entire wardrobe too, in fact, i dont think Jordyn will need any new clothes for a year :)

It was incredibly hot that day, so as you can see, the cake suffered some frosting collapse, but i dont think the kids noticed! Thankfully we live on a river, so that helps to keep things cool...she was born on the hottest day of the year after all :)

She received many wonderful gifts...a new swimming pool, lots of clothes, a pretty pony, some books, a people carousel, a stuffed dog complete with his own carrying case, and some new movies. And of course, a new house to call her own!

Here she is being visited by the local troll, Daddy :) The house was a big hit, and she has already tried several times to get on the roof...she has to climb everything!
The party was a lot of fun, and the visit from my sister was wonderful! We lounged around, shared stories with the kids, swam in the river to keep cool, and even did some archery. Here is the gang enjoying the river! Jordyn with her Aunt TJ and her cousins, and also her second cousin, Olivia. Fun, fun, fun!

I also made some squares for the latest crazy quilt swap, but they arent embellished yet, so no pics....but stay tuned!
Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!
cheers~

Hurrah!!! My quilt for Anne has finally arrived so i can post a picture of the label now :) She sent me a lovely email thanking me for the miniature quilt, and i am sooooo thrilled she liked it! (and that it arrived safely) You are welcome Anne...i enjoyed making it for you.

Well, as most of you know, we went camping over the 4th of July weekend with our SCA group. The event was a blast...the weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and we had a hafla in camp every night! A perfect weekend indeed! In fact, i was so relaxed, that i didnt even take many photos! Hard to believe, i know...but here are a couple just to give you a taste of our weekend. Hope yours was wonderful too!

The Arte y Pico Award

What is the Arte y Pico Award you ask?
Well, it originated here at Arte Y Pico blog, And Loulee awarded me last week! :)

The Rules are as follows....

1. Pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.

3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.

4.The award winner and one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte Y Pico blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5. To show these rules.

So now to pick 5 of you who fit the criteria, not an easy task...as i am inspired by all of the folks in my list of favorite blogs!

1. Kate at Kates Quilting and Fibre Arts Blog. She's "Super Mom" to 3 kids, and still manages to create a multitude of fibre arts, run swaps, and also blogs each day with fun reads!
2. Lynda at Master of Patience?. A Belly Dancer, that creates many beautiful quilts for charity, and even teaches quilting! She was also my first blog visitor :)
3. Tonya at Lazy Gal Quilting. I love her quilting style...colorful, fun, and unique! Plus she is a sci fi/fantasy movie and tv buff...gotta love that!
4. Melissa at Honey Bee's Bliss. Many wonderful tutorials for crazy quilting thread and ribbon embroidery...and her work is gorgeous!
5. Annette at Thread Addict. A site i discovered recently, and glad i did! Her work is wonderful and she is always making something new!

Well, choosing only five people was very tough!
I sure hope you participate, but if you dont, i understand :) Sometimes life gets a little too busy!

cheers (and thanks Loulee, by the way...you would have been on this list)~

Whats Buzzing at the Blackbear...

Well, after only a few weeks, this is what the bees have created so far. Its pretty awesome to watch them in action...theres a little window in the side of the hive to watch the activity, and as you can see, they are cruisin right along!

We have had several more bear encounters, the most recent was last night...the damn bear scattered my garbage all over the property! doh! The night before that i forgot to take down my hummingbird feeders and he tore those down (breaking one of them). Ah...life in the mountains! :) I wouldnt trade it for anything though!

This is my 100th post, and i would love to do a give-away, but since im getting ready to run out the door to go camping, i guess ill have to worry about a give-away another time. Besides, i dont know what to give away :) But i dont suppose i will get any complaints if i do one at a later date!

Well, for those of you in the states.....have a Happy 4th of July!!! :)
