More festive fun...this little snowflake tree was given to Jordyn from Grandpa bear, and it grew overnight. Isnt it pretty!
And here is a Christmas gift Jordyn made and wrapped for me under the tree...gotta love the decorative toilet paper wrap, though, when she wrapped dads gift, she decided gift wrap would be easier to work with than t.p. :)
And here is one of the finished crazy quilts (well, almost finished). I wanted to do more stitches and bling, but then, i only have so much time, so i thought id do each seam and then move on. For the most part, im rather pleased with how it turned out. One down, four to go :)
Have a fabulous weekend!

The Colors of Christmas ~
I have been busy crankin away on a few Christmas gifts lately...but first i wanted to share a photo of the little yo-yo table topper i bought at the craft fair last weekend. I love yo-yo's, and especially love when they are done in Christmas fabrics, but ive never tried to make them myself, so when i saw this little gem, i had to get it! I also bought an ornament of yo-yo's made into a wreath...the two items cost $12.00 bucks...a total steal! Anyways, it looks so lovely sitting next to our pooping reindeer :)
On Monday i put together these 5 crazy quilts. The top quilt is around 12 X 15 and the smaller ones are about 8 X 10. They still need to be embroidered and loaded with bling, but they are getting there. I ordered these vintage prints on fabric from ebay, and i love them. I hope the receivers love them too! In fact, i hope i can finish them in time for them to be received :) Two of them are going to Jordyn's teachers, and their last day of school is the 16th, so wish me luck!
and now a silly conversation overheard between Daddy and Jordyn during their great pony rescue game tonight...
Jordyn: Im sooo strong i could pick up a house probably.
Daddy: oh, i dont think so.
Jordyn: yes i can!
Daddy: well then, why dont you pick up the house right now?
Jordyn: cause its nighttime!
When asked to further explain, she said, " cause its nighttime and i cant see what im doing!" :)

I also finished the borders on Jordyns I-spy quilt, sewed on the label (i usually forget that part until the end), and have most of it sandwiched together (i ran out of pins, so i need to improvise). Now if i can just find the energy to focus, i might just get er done!~

Santa Likes Beer~
We went to the Greening of Red Feather today...Jordyn made crafts, we bought some home made goodies from the craft fair, and we got to see Santa! Now, when i was a kid, we always left out beer and cookies for Santa, as suggested by my dad. He told us that after drinking all that milk on Christmas Eve, perhaps Santa might like a beer with his cookies instead...so we would leave out a beer for Santa, and it was always empty in the morning ;) Since my dad is no longer with us, i like to share that story with my daughter...so she likes to leave out a beer for Santa too. So, when she sat in Santas lap today, she gave him lots of hugs and smiles, and told him, " i know what you like...you like beer!" Santa replied with many HO HO HO's...as did Justin, while i was as red as Santas suit! :) After chatting a while with Old Saint Nick, it was time for the big question...What do you want for Christmas? Apparently there is no limit on the number of items requested , as Jordyn asked for 3 things...a Scooter, a snowboarder Barbie, and the new Rapunzel doll! And with a beer for a bribe, she might just get them all!
In the craft photo, you'll notice a big scratch on her face...she fell out of a tree earlier this week and banged up her face just in time for Santa photos...no worries though...mom has Photoshop :) I hope your December festivities are filled with Joy!

Christmas Preparations ~
While Justin spent most of the weekend repairing our pond, Jordyn and i got out the Christmas decorations. Her excitement took me back to my own childhood...the thrill of seeing all the decorations again...reminiscing about previous holidays...playing with everything...and of course, the waiting..."are you almost done with the lights...can i start decorating the tree now". Waiting to decorate the tree while my dad got the tree straight in the tree stand, and then waiting for them to finish hanging the lights always felt like an eternity, and i guess things havent changed much since then! Of course, we dont use a real tree...living in the mountains, surrounded by trees, we have plenty of nature around us...besides, we dont have room for anything bigger in our little cabin. But this little tree suits us just fine! The cabin is so cozy when its adorned with shiny, sparkly Christmas magic...i love it!
And look what arrived this weekend...the fabrics for Jordyns I-spy quilt. I wanted to add a few more personal pieces to her quilt, and these all have special meaning to us, so now i can cut these out and continue on the quilt.
Sunday afternoon brought snow and lots of icy road conditions, two cars in the river and one in the ditch...thankfully everyone was okay, but those kind of calls are always scary. It was nice to come home to a warm house after spending 2 hours in the river! I hope everyone had a safe holiday weekend!

Sledding with the cousins
Here is a shot of my turkey getting into the turkey :) I busted her eating turkey right off of the platter...guess she was hungry! No doubt, from all of the craziness her and her cousins had playing together. Thanksgiving was a relaxing, pajama kind of day...no place to be, no time frame...just doing our thing all day, and it was wonderful. I even squeezed in a work-out and loaded and unloaded a cord of wood, so it was guilt-free as well. The meal was simple, but delicious...turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. We had pumpkin pie for dessert, but we were too full to eat any, so we enjoyed it today. It was my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner in 7 years, so i was a little rusty, but all turned out great in the end. Besides, I only had to cook for the three of us because the cousins were eating up at Aunt LeAnns place, so there was no pressure either.
Today we hit the snow and ice...sledding, laughing and having a ball. Im so glad we were able to get the sled run and skating pond ready for their visit!
And speaking of our skating pond...here is the shot i uploaded in my last post, which is what it looked like earlier today...
and this was our pond at around 2:30 this afternoon. Apparently they decided to drain one of the reservoirs or something, because our pond was entirely flooded with about a foot of large ice chunks, slush and water, which sadly ruined our skating pond. If we had left it like this, it would have frozen on top of our skating rink, all sloppy and crooked, for the rest of the season...

so, we spent the next 2 1/2 hours shoveling, scraping and smoothing, in hopes that the pond will freeze smooth again for skating. Looks like i can cancel my work-out for the day...besides, after shoveling all of that ice, im sure my back will be killing me tomorrow :) All in all though...a wonderful holiday weekend so far!
