Mushrooms ~

We got this little mushroom kit from Bob and Rachel during Rogue Camp, and they sprouted this week!  Once you harvest these mushrooms, you cut open the other side of the box and grow more.  We sauteed these little oyster mushrooms up in a little butter and garlic and they were fantastic!  If you share your photo on their facebook page, they will send a box to the school of your choice!  Looks like my preschoolers will be enjoying some mushrooms very soon!  :)  Heres the link if you're interested...https://www.backtotheroots.com/products/details.aspx?p=1

Lake Agnes Hike

On Sunday, after the barn gig, Jon and Marie went on a hike to Lake Agnes and Jordyn and Justin went with them.  Its one of my favorite places to go for a hike, however i had to work, so it was just the four of them.
These gorgeous photos give you an idea of why its one of my favorite places :) (thanks for the pics Jon)

They hiked most of the day and even came home after i did!  Looks like they had a great time!

Quilt Show and a Barn Dance ~

The Upper Poudre Canyon had their quilt show and craft fair last Saturday, and as usual, there were gorgeous quilts every where you looked!  Jordyn likes to enter one of her quilts each year, and this time she chose the bento box quilt...see arrow in photo below...
There were some antique quilts as well.  This civil war quilt was one of my favorites!
It was in such wonderful shape for its age...and it was a treat to see in person!  The tiny stitches and the pretty pattern.  Im sure this quilt has quite a story!
This quilt was made for breast cancer awareness, and there was such lovely embroidery work.

Just look at the lettering and the little beads.  Unfortunately, my photo doesn't do it justice!
This stunning black quilt by Barb Donahoe is made entirely by hand!  This quilt won viewers choice (in fact, Barb wins almost every year to the dismay of many quilters).  But she really does wonderful handwork that many of us never even attempt, so she deserves the win!  :)

After the quilt show, Jordyn and i did a little shopping at the craft fair!  We purchased a bunch of baked goods for our UPCA association, added a new chain saw bear to our collection, and then picked up a few handmade ornaments for the tree.

Later that evening we went to Becks Barn Dance...
County Road 74E played some hoppin tunes and the crowd really got into the dancing this year!  Sometimes folks will dance and other times it seems like no one gets up to boogie...but this year everyone got on the dance floor!

As the evening winded down, and most of the folks had left, Jordyn and Daddy did a rendition of "Royals" together and it was too cute!  Thanks for another fabulous party Jim and Bev...we all had a blast!

Fun Day with Friends ~

Jordyn had a fun afternoon playing with her friend Lorelei today!  These two are a couple of characters when they get together...and they spent the day laughing, while her mom and i had fun catching up.  Their family is hoping to buy a home in the Poudre someday, and we love that idea!  Thanks for the visit Stacy...it was a lot of fun!

Happy 92nd Birthday Great Grandma Anita!

Family and Friends ~

Jordyn spent three nights at Grandma and Grandpa Bruens house for some end of the summer fun, and while she was there, they signed the papers and finally sold their home!  Its been on the market for quite some time, so we are all very excited!  When they brought Jordyn home, we also had some friends drop by for a visit, so we had a nice impromptu celebration of wine and snacks by the river!  Gotta love summer!

Garden Booty ~

Its been sort of a sad year as far as my garden is concerned...but i did get a huge bounty of radishes!  We had a lot of rain, not nearly as much as last year, so i thought my harvest would have been better...however, we also had a lot of overcast days, so i guess my garden was lacking sunlight this year :(  Oh well, i guess ill try again next year!
