Welcome 2011! It was a quiet one up here for us, and as you can see Justin and Jordyn were fast asleep well before midnight. Although, Justin is smiling here because he knows im making fun of him by documenting this with the camera! :) Thats okay...i called my sisters in California (where its an hour earlier), and had some laughs with them on the phone while they awaited midnight.
New years day was spent relaxing, watching movies, playing with toys, and of course, quilting...
What else do you do when its soooo cold outside?! Anyways, i fell behind in Kate's Stay at Home Robin the last two months...the holidays derailed me, but im all caught up now...well, at least on the Halloween themed quilt. I have the Winter themed quilt out now, and should be able to work on that this week. I still need to do blocks for this month, but at least im not as far behind as i was.
And, as i mentioned before, i started meeting with the Red Feather Watercolor Society once a week...and this is what ive been working on. Im not used to this medium, so this is strictly a learning piece for me (and a work in progress). i am playing around with brushes, techniques, materials, etc...but im learning a lot. As an oil painter, i tend to fill the page with color, and forget to let the light shine thru, so that is something i will have to wrap my brain around :) I tried experimenting with masking fluid, but it gave me some troubles, and was almost impossible to remove. Anyways, i will post updates from time to time to share my progress, and to help me learn where my strengths and weaknesses are as i go...so stay tuned!
May 2011 be filled with creative joy~
