Samurai Exhibit at the DAM ~

We went down to Denver to get off the mountain for a while and shake off our cabin fever a bit...and while we were down there we went to the DAM and checked out the new Samurai exhibit.
The collection was absolutely gorgeous, and i couldnt believe all the detail of the armor.  For example, just look at those butterfly hinges on the shin covers.  Wow!  Everything was crafted so elegantly, it was hard to imagine they were made for battle.
The helmets were amazing too...in fact, this was one of my favorites, the flaming jewel.

Even the accessories were full of wonderful details and beauty.

Jordyn really enjoyed the exhibit too...and you can see her and Christy admiring the back of this armor through the glass.  I love this shot of these two!

After the exhibit, we checked out some of the contemporary art and then headed on over to our favorite pub for lunch.

Bloody Marys and wimpys with chips...always a great choice!  This has become such a wonderful tradition with all of us, that we really look forward to it every time we go!

These last two photos really sum up our afternoon...Here we are trying to get a selfie of all of us with the Museum sign in the background, and Aunt Gwen couldn't get up on the planter with us, so we started laughing....and continued to laugh as she tried and tried to get up  :) heheheheheheh

I love these ladies!~

Helicopter Fun ~

Huge thanks to the North Colorado Med Evac in Greeley for giving Justin, Jordyn and I, a fabulous ride this morning! The weather was gorgeous and we had a blast!! I won the grand prize tickets at a conference a while back, and we cashed in today!  The weather for Spring Break has pretty much been snowy and cold for the last few days, so we were all happy to get off the mountain for some sunshine!
Watching Jordyns face was priceless!  Just look at her in this shot as the helicopter first lifts off the ground!  In fact, we were all smiles :)

Look at all the birds in this shot....what a view!

She asked the pilot if he did any tricks, so he let the helicopter do a dip (you know that sinking feeling you get in your stomach on roller coaster rides)....well this is the look on her face as he did that!  She asked him to do it two more times after that....it was great!
Here we are coming in for a landing...
Jordyn and Justin heading off the helipad as the chopper gets ready to take off again....yes the blades are still spinning :)
Thanks for a wonderful adventure Dave...you were a fun pilot and we had a great time!  And as an EMT, thank you for all you guys do....we sure appreciate when you guys help us out on our big emergencies!

Head Gate Treasure ~

Justin has been working on the new head gate for the ditch all winter, and now he is finally putting the last pieces together to have it ready for spring.  He drilled a hole in one beam for Jordyn to stash some treasure inside, and this is the note she included with the treasures you see here.  It reads, "The members of the Bruen family: Jordyn Bruen, Justin Bruen and Lisa Westrope have all contributed something to this, including Berdena Sattlers ashes.  Contributed March, 2016."
Kato stood by to witness the excitement!

Donovan turns 40!!!

Donovan turned 40 this weekend,  so we kicked off spring break celebrating at his place with music, good food and great friends!
Talan foolishly left a $60.00 bottle of wine unattended in the kitchen, so several of us raided his stash!
Donovan received a new electric sitar from Kat, and we all enjoyed its sweet melodies!

Donovan had a heart attack at the end of summer, so we are really happy to be celebrating his day today!  Love ya little brother....Happy Birthday!
