There are sooo many photos to share from the weekend, that i decided to split this blog into three posts! Hope you dont mind, and if you love Halloween, then you should enjoy the ride! First off, the preschool party was on Thursday, and as you can see, the kids were very excited. Last year their party was canceled due to snowy weather, so this year was a first for many of the kids.
Ms Bev and Ms Donna grabbed their masks and led the kids on a parade and trick or treat adventure through the classrooms at the school. They received lots of goodies from all of the classes and even the principal had something fun for them.
I have a video of the trick or treating, so stay tuned. After school, many of the kids headed over to the library for a story time party. At this point, the kids were extremely hyper, and they were all getting the stink eye from their mothers :) (mine included). They didnt even eat that much sugar, but man were they out of control! It was all i could do to get this shot!
After a while though, they settled down and enjoyed some stories...and some crafts...and of course, more candy!
The library always has such nice things for the kids...and look at the cool spider we got to take home with us! Later that evening we decided to carve our pumpkins...Justin decided we each had to do one, so while they hollowed out the pumpkins, i separated the seeds for roasting. There is nothing more tasty than homemade roasted pumpkin seeds. All it takes is a little butter and some seasonings and yum! We like garlic salt on ours (anything garlic is a go in this house :)
Well, i hope you have enjoyed part one of the Halloween Extravaganza...stay tuned for part two and part three! :)

Bartels Farm Pumpkin Patch ~
We had a chance to go to the pumpkin patch on Friday, only this time Daddy and Great Grandma Anita were able to join us. This is the first time Justin has ever been able to join us for pumpkin patch fun, but more interesting, is the fact that Great Grandma Anita, being 88 years old, had never been in a corn maze....so that was our first stop!
We hit several dead ends, but eventually found our way out. You can see Jordyn collecting all kinds of dried corn booty from the adventure...in fact we all took home some corn from the maze. Even GG took one home for her scarecrow!
We then picked out some pumpkins...Jordyn picked out 15 little ones, and Daddy picked out 4 big ones....never mind the 5 we already have at home. Hey, when it comes to Halloween, you can never have too many pumpkins! :)
This is the third year we have been here, and each year they change things around a bit, which keeps things fun. They also have different animals to pet each year too, but this year, the animals seemed particularly friendly.
Justin made friends with this black goat, while Jordyn kept getting kisses from the little white one.
We had a little rain, and it was a bit chilly, but that meant less crowds, so we could have the animals all to ourselves.
It was really great to have Justin join us this time around...the break from work was good for him, and he seems to have enjoyed himself too!
I hope you enjoyed a trip thru the pumpkin patch with us...you can never have too many pumpkins!
Have a fabulous weekend! Hugs from the Black Bear Cabin ~

Perfect Weather for a Perfect Weekend~
For a surprise, i took Jordyn to the Lee Martinez Farm on Saturday. This was their last weekend of pony rides for the season, and i knew she would be thrilled to ride one, so we headed down the mountain for some farm fun!
For another surprise, Christy drove up from Denver to meet us, which was awesome! As Godmother (and cousin), Christy loves to participate in fun activities with Jordyn, and since this was her first pony ride, it was not to be missed.
Just look how excited she is...almost as excited as her mom...but then, ive never been on a horse, so this was all new to me as well :)
The farm had many other fun things to enjoy too, a large barn filled with pumpkins, hay rides, a museum, and of course, lots of animals to pet and feed.
It was a gorgeous day, and i am so glad i got to spend it with two of my favorite people! I look forward to going back again soon.
On Sunday, we were expecting a shipment of logs for our winter wood, so Jordyn and Justin suited up, grabbed their chainsaws, and headed up to the yard to meet the truck. (check out their matching clothes).
And here is the truck unloading the logs...the loggers machine arm skills were amazing, and it was like watching an artist with a paintbrush. Fast and delicate at the same time...quite fascinating to watch actually.
Justin and Jordyn are mesmerized by the whole thing!
Afterwords, Jordyn and i played in the meadow...the colors are at their peak right now, and when the light hits it just right, the whole area glows. Photographs dont quite do it justice...but be sure to click on it to see a larger scale image of it!
I hope you enjoyed a peek into our weekend! Cheers~

Sunday Fun ~ Happy Birthday Spooky!

A gray rainy day, but wonderful just the same! I woke up to Justin and Jordyn playing dress up, complete with make-up and hair clips...and look how pretty they are...he's such a sport!

Next, it was time to decorate the other two pumpkins we picked up. She got this little one from a birthday party yesterday, and she loves it.

Spooky, however, had a different opinion of him. And speaking of Spooky, she turns ONE year old this month, and we had a little birthday party for her.

You can see how happy she is...but then it was time for cake, or in her case, kitty cake...seafood pate' with little crunchy milk bits.

She was a little freaked out by the candle, so Jordyn had to help her a bit with the birthday wish...Happy Birthday Spooky! (Jordyn picked out the candle...we used the same one from Jordyns first birthday party).

Of course, birthday gifts followed the cake...this catnip toy was a huge hit with both Jordyn and Spooky!

And finally...here's the pumpkin trio we completed this weekend. What a fun weekend...hope yours was fabulous too!

Pumpkin Fun ~
Another addition to our Halloween decorations...the pirate pumpkin. Jordyn decorated him yesterday, and Spooky came over to check him out. As you can see, Spooky approves :) In fact, Spooky is quite fascinated with pumpkins...maybe thats because she is an October kitty. We picked up a couple more pumpkins in town today after a pool birthday party Jordyn went to, so we will have those decorated to share with you soon!
