National EMS week

Okay...just because its National EMS week, doesnt mean we are supposed to run on calls non stop! Yesterday, at 5 am, i drove Justin to the ER (kidney stones), then when we got home i got paged out to an anaphylactic shock call...then, just when i thought i could relax and have a beer, the Mountain Greenery caught fire... and we had to station there till 11 pm. Needless to say, Ive had my fill of National EMS week, and im ready for a break!

Which brings us to today...it was an absolutely gorgeous day (hard to believe we were building a snowman out here just 8 days ago), and today i was building a garden.

We started out small to see what we could grow at this altitude and cold...eventually we'd like to have a greenhouse, but for now, we have a little patch of dirt. Jordyn seems to like it though!

And to all my fellow brothers and sisters in Emergency Medical Services, Hope you had a fabulous week!

May Snowstorm...brrrrrrrr!

Not much time for posting lately, so my blog has been a little quiet....sorry about that. I promise to post more in the future :) Not much on the quilting front either, though the weather up here is perfect for that right now. I did finish another stitchery from Kaarens First Friday Freebies...i did two of them in December, but never finished the third one, but it looks like these. A late present for a friend, im sure she wont mind :)

As predicted we got quite a bit of snow last night and this morning...around 10 inches. It would have been more if it was colder out...but we got lots of rain for the first few hours instead. Natures gentle reminder to wait until after Memorial Weekend to plant that garden! (and oh, have i been waiting!) Sadly, today was supposed to be Jordyns field trip to the butterfly pavilion with her class...but of course it was canceled. No matter, her and i make the trip to Denver often, and i will take her next time we head down there! Meanwhile, we are both cooped up inside with a little bit of cabin fever...hopefully we wont kill each other :)

The hummingbirds were keeping busy at the feeders all through the night...i imagine thats what keeps them warm during storms like this. Im just glad i had three feeders out, because they almost drained all of them.

Spooky had some energy she had to unleash on the snow for a while...i made her come in though, when she started to stalk the hummingbirds. (the little stinker)

Jordyn had to come out and see what all the commotion was...hey, get some shoes on first kiddo! Ive taken a lot of photos over the last few weeks...perhaps ill share some in a future post...but for now, i think i will suit up and wander outside for some fresh air! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day...we enjoyed our day at home relaxing...the perfect kind of Mother's Day to me :) Cheers, and stay warm :)

Vetmobile

Is this the coolest idea or what...instead of traumatizing your pet by driving it long distances into town to see a vet...have them endure some sort of surgery, shots, etc...and then have them suffer the looooong drive home...you can call the Vetmobile! I was at work during the vet visit, so Justin took these photos for me. Apparently Jordyn got a full tour and was quite fascinated with the whole procedure. Spooky, however, not so much! It took 3 of them to hold her down to get her first shot :) atta girl!

Spooky is doing fine though...she was spayed and received her shots and is taking it easy today. We arent supposed to lift her up for a week...try telling a 3 year old that! Jordyn has been great with her, but constant reminders are still necessary.
