47 ~

We had fabulous weather for my birthday today!  Christy came up for a short visit bearing gifts...and we also enjoyed some bloody marys and conversation!

These are the lovely flowers she got me, and i planted them in my wheelbarrow.
She also added some goodies to the fairy garden...this cute little Bear Hugs sign and of course, what garden would be complete without an outhouse!

I also got a gift card to barnes and noble...thanks christy, you truly are the best!  :)  While we were enjoying our cocktails outside, this cute Common Merganser and her ducklings swam by!
The water was running rather swiftly and the mom decided to swim across the river...we didnt think these two little guys were going to make it, but they raised themselves up high on the water and quickly skittered across to catch up with mom!  It was amazing!
And here they are safely on the other side!  It was fabulous to witness, and i hope they swim by again soon.
Meanwhile, my lupine finally bloomed in my garden...a first for them, so that was a treat!  Christy left around 7:30, and i spent the rest of the evening painting watercolors of my garden.

Im a little rusty, but it felt good to be creative!  I hope i can continue this all summer...i love painting! :)

Girl Scout Geo Cache Hike ~

The library hosted a geo cache adventure for our girl scout troop today, and it was the perfect day to be on a hike!
First we did some review with our compasses, and then we tried to follow the directions down elf lane to find our first cache!

It should be up these rocks about 10 feet girls...
FOUND IT!
The next marker took us across this swampy area blooming with lots of wild iris...very pretty!
And we found our 2nd marker...hiding under the gnome!  :)
If you haven't tried geo caching, you really should...its like going on a treasure hunt!
After our hike we enjoyed a picnic in the shade...Big THANKS goes out to Darlene from the library for a great day!  Cheers ~

Denver Run ~

Christy and I planned a craft weekend with our friends, however, since most of us hadn't seen each other in almost a year, we didn't do any crafting, and instead, spent all our time visiting!  Naturally, there were tasty snacks and cocktails involved!  Mimosas for breakfast...
and wine and cheese in the afternoon!  (pardon the dark photos, these were taken with the camera phone).  It was a very relaxing time, and we hope to do it again soon!  On Sunday, Christy and I met up with Aunt Gwen and hit the garden center.  They had some wonderful garden goodies, including these garden posts and the giant velociraptor!   I would love to have him out on the island...perhaps i should start a velociraptor fund...he's only $2,000 bucks!  :)  I took photos of these garden poles though, as i would love to make my own and put it in the garden somewhere!

Anyways, after shopping we enjoyed lunch at Coronas...a wonderful relaxing visit with great people!  Thanks for the great time Christy!  Love Ya!

Last Day of School!!!

On the last day of school, the teachers have a traditional "car wash" that they have the kids parade through, however, last year, we started a new tradition, and added silly string to the mix.  This year was no different!  The kids love it, the teachers and parents love it, and it makes our sad goodbyes turn into lots of laughter!
Rehna will be moving on to middle school next year, and we are sad to see her go.  Jordyn and her are good friends, so we hope she will still stop by once in a while for sleepovers and sillyness!
And speaking of sleepovers, Justin brought Andrea home with Jordyn for a sleepover, while i enjoyed a luncheon with the teachers for the last day of school!  I also had an interview for a position after preschool hours as the Media/Tech Teacher....so it was a busy day!  Wish me luck!
I am sooooo ready to retire the alarm clock for a few months! :) Let the summer fun begin!!!!

Rope Swing ~

Jordyn just loves the rope swing!  Every day when she gets home from school she will spend hours out there swinging on the rope...doing all kinds of tricks, and basically just twirling and spinning around!

Who would have thought something so simple could provide such wonderful entertainment to a child!  Its a kids paradise up here!  :)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game ~

What a fantastic day we had!!!  Christy was chosen as a season ticket holder to go out on the field and hold the giant flag for the kick off of Memorial Weekend games on Friday, and she invited me to participate too!  When we got there, they had refreshments set out for us....cookies, popcorn, and some water bottles....but i was more interested in this keg cooler...
Once everyone arrived, we went outside the stadium to practice.  We ended up in the very center top of the flag, so we were instructed to line up directly behind second base when we got on the field.
Everyone was thrilled to be participating in this special occasion, and there were smiles and laughter all around.
And some rain too...thats right, it started to rain while we were practicing, so we only got to go through one practice run.
Then we marched the flag back into the building to await the opening ceremonies.

This is the entrance onto the field were we headed in!  We werent allowed to take any photos once we were on the field, so those are the only shots we got....We were told that they should email some photos of the flag spread out on the field, but Christy hasn't received any yet.  The best part about the day, was it finally stopped raining in time for us to march on the field with the flag and the sun came out!  Yeah!
What an exciting moment for me to share with my best friend...we were all smiles...and even more so when we finally got a beer :)
We stopped at the first beer stand we found to get a beverage before heading over to our seats.  Christy's seats are awesome and they are very close to home plate.
And here we are finally enjoying our seats....and naturally some hot dogs as well!

I got the works on mine...what a mess that was!  Note to self: grab more napkins next time!

Wow...they come in this size....im getting one!
The rain started to roll in mid game, and we stuck it out as long as we could, but we finally decided to call it a day!  So with my new Colorado Rockies hat, and Christy with her new Rockies mittens, we headed home!  Turns out the game was delayed for an hour or so while it rained, and then didnt get out until almost midnight....after we heard that we were kinda glad we didnt stick around.  We were pretty chilly and beat from all the excitement!
What a blast Christy!  Thanks for inviting me!
