A Visit From TJ and an Art Show ~

My sister came out for a visit last week and we all had a great time!  We met up with Christy and Aunt Gwen for some Mexican food, and then we headed up the canyon.
It was a pretty mellow trip...the weather was really cold, so we mostly kicked back in the house keeping warm and goofing off.
Teresa, being from California, wanted to enjoy the snow a bit though, so the next morning, Jordyn and TJ went on a nice little adventure around the island.
They made snow angels, threw snow at one another, and then came in to get warm!

The next morning we all went outside to work on our sled run so TJ could give it a try.  Sadly, we had the perfect sled run about a week earlier, but the sun had come out briefly and melted most of it, so we had to rebuild it!
It wasnt as good as it was before, but it certainly did the job.

TJ and i enjoyed a few beers and hung out in the sunshine...it was cold, but it was sunny, so we sat outside and enjoyed the rays.

The pond was not very glassy, but we decided to give ice skating a try, just for fun!  We slid around on the ice for a while, and then called it a day....but first we had to watch Jordyns Olympic performance...
She came out in a skirt, some sequins and some tights and was hamming it up on the ice!  Looks like someones been watching the Olympics :)

We came inside to get warm and enjoyed this Fiesta Bubble Bread...its soooo easy to make and pretty darn tasty too :)
On Monday, Teresa came with me to work and enjoyed hanging out in our preschool classroom.  The Olympians enjoyed their last day of Olympics and received their gold medals, wore the wreaths they made, and proudly waved their American flags while parading through the school!  GO PRESCHOOL!
Teresa went back to Denver on Tuesday, but i found a few PU notes when i got home, and Jordyn had a little note hiding for her in her room too.  Love ya TJ!
We had a mild panic after she left, as our septic system seemed to freak out and stopped working.  The temperature had dropped significantly after she left (it went from 40 to 5 degrees), and we werent sure what the problem was.  Thankfully it turned out to just be a clog, so we had the septic guy come up and empty it out and Justin snaked it and all is well, but we were teasing TJ that she ruined our plumbing :)  To be honest, im glad it happened after she left though...that would have sucked!
On Thursday we were invited to the Super Art Show reception in town.  One piece of artwork is chosen from each school in the Poudre School District, and that artwork is framed and hung in the district office for one year.  Its quite an honor, and Jordyn's artwork was chosen this year from Red Feather, so we were thrilled to attend the ceremony.
She received this lovely certificate (however, it had the wrong name on it), so we returned it and will receive a new one soon (i hope).  No matter, it was still awesome!

Here she is with her super cool art teacher, Mrs. West, and the two other winners from the mountain schools, Stove Prairie and Livermore.
But the best part was Christy drove up with Aunt Gwen and TJ, so they could all be part of her award ceremony.  I dont think she realized what a big deal it was, and when she saw them there, she figured it must be a pretty special event.  I know i was proud :)

It was getting late, so we said our goodbyes to TJ, Gwen and Christy, and then Jordyn, Justin and i decided to enjoy some food at El Burritos for dinner.
Justin gets the same thing every time we go there...a beef stuffed sopapilla...just look at that monster!
And that should about catch us up on our February adventures!  Bring on March and warmer weather!

Looks like a fun month, aside from septic issues... One question, what's a PU note?
