New Kittens and a Preschool Graduation ~

We brought home two new kittens Monday, and they are soooo cute!  The one with the black nose is quite adventurous, while the other one spends most of her time behind the couch.  They seem to be enjoying their new surroundings though, and it turns out, the shy kitten is one tough pugilist!
Jordyn is in hog heaven, or i should say, kitten heaven, as she chases, cuddles, and plays with these two little sisters.  We're still thinking of names, so if you have any suggestions, send em on over :)
On Wednesday, we celebrated Jordyn's graduation from preschool...thats right, my little girl will be heading into kindergarten in the Fall.  Here they are before the ceremony, looking a little confused...
Once on stage though, they waved to their parents and all was well!
Look how proud she is to be receiving her diploma...what a ham!
And just for fun, i thought i would include this little comparison photo of Jordyn and i as preschool graduates.

Week Twenty : Another Rainy Day
Awaiting warmer days...this has been one loooong Winter!
Photo of Jordyn, digitally painted in Photoshop.
And here's a shot for fun...the grille over at Archer's opened yesterday, so Jordyn was very excited to go there this morning and get a breakfast sandwich.  (Thats Glenn in the window...Hi Glenn!)  Jordyn loves the grille, and enjoys pretending her playhouse at home is a hot dog stand too.  She was telling everyone that pulled in, "the grille is open, the grille is open!" We are so easily amused up here...especially when we've been cooped up in the house, sick all week!
Check out this crazy weather we are having!

2011 Photo of the Week : Week Nineteen

Week Nineteen: Psychedelic Blue
This little ceramic yard decoration is the only spot of color in my garden right now, so i thought it fitting to photograph it for week 19.  (digitally painted in Photoshop)
And even though there isnt any color, promises of Spring are just around the corner, as it was ditch riding weekend!  Usually we open the ditches May 1st, but a neighbor had a culvert to repair, so we had to wait for the concrete to dry.
Jordyn has another cold (ahhhh preschool, the land of germs!), complete with fever and stuffy head, but i couldnt deny her the fun of walking the ditch as the water flowed.  So, we bundled her up, as you can see it was really chilly out, and she even got to help out a bit.
Heres a shot of the new culvert our neighbor put in...isnt it nice...wish he'd come and do ours :)  Happy Weekend Everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day...i know i did!  It started out with a delicious breakfast cooked by Justin, while Jordyn supervised.  "Sausage, eggs and potatoes" is what she always requests from Daddy when i have to work on weekends, so she thought it would the perfect meal.
Here we are, after stuffing ourselves good...and look at the wonderful weather we had too!
My mother's day loot consisted of a handmade card and gift from Jordyn, a few Photoshop Tutorial DVD's by Susi Lawson courtesy of Justin, and a personalized mothers day book i made for my mom (and also had one made for my sisters and i).  I make one every other year and they are always a hit with the family!  All in all...a nice haul!  I cant wait to sit down with those tutorials...i have another DVD of hers and its awesome.
Then i kicked the afternoon off by drinking a bloody mary and sitting at our patio set left to us by Berdena...we just got it out and it sits right on the river, so its a cozy spot.
Meanwhile, Justin and Jordyn went to work on my cold frame...
Next, they headed over to Connies to gather some rhubarb plants.  She brought a few over for my garden (thanks Connie), but had some extras growing around her property, so they were up for grabs!
So, with the cart loaded, Jordyn and Daddy set off to planting them in the yard.  They had a very productive day...while i lounged around doing nothing.  After the last few weeks, it was just what i needed!
For dinner we had T-bones, salad, grilled mushrooms and onions, and mashed potatoes...then we had cocktails and strawberry shortcake at Grandma and Grandpas house across the meadow.  The perfect end to the perfect day...though after all that food and lounging, i feel a diet coming on :)  Hurray for Mothers Day...and to my mom out in Cali....Happy Mothers Day to you!  I love you~

Aquarium Fun ~

On Thursday Jordyn's preschool joined the kindergartners and 1st graders from Red Feather and they all went to the Downtown Aquarium in Denver.  We left a day early and stayed at Christys house, that way we could squeeze in a visit, enjoy some Mexican food, and not have to travel so far the next morning.
As we waited for the other groups to arrive, we played outside the aquarium...the kids enjoyed this bouncy house, while the adults relaxed and had lunch.  After a two hour drive, this bouncy house was a great way to let the kids get out some of their energy!
I had to share my favorite animal in the aquarium...this little guy was soooo cute!  He was swimming around in circles entertaining the kids, and occasionally he came to the surface and posed for photos.
There were some divers in the Under the Sea exhibit that communicated with the kids by hand signals and playing games like rock, paper, scissors.  Then you could try on some of their gear...this helmet weighed 37 pounds, so Jordyn needed a little help.
There were dozens of different aquariums filled with all kinds of different fish and sea life...but some of our favorites were the piranha, seahorses, sea turtles, sharks, and the Aurelia aurita (moon jellyfish).
But then there was a mermaid show, and all the kids went nuts!
Last on the exhibit was the stingray pool...where you could feed and pet the stingrays.  Being used to the crowds, these guys were awesome...they swam all around the pool, and just about every kid got to touch at least one.  Jordyn and i decided to stay a little longer, so we had lots of one on one with the stingrays.
It was a wonderful field trip and i think all the kids had a great time!  The aquarium had some nice additions since i was here last, and i really enjoyed the trip too.  We look forward to coming back again soon!
Oh, and dont forget the mermaid visit...these two lovely mermaids came out to visit and take photos with the kids after their show.  Just look how excited Jordyn is to be talking to REAL mermaids!

And here she is doing a mermaid pose with Cora and Kaya, the mystical mermaids!  What a great day!
