A Fun Weekend!

On Thursday we had our awards ceremony and Jordyn cleaned house!  She received a perfect attendance award, a recognition award, and the Super Art Award!  Each year one students artwork is chosen from each school in the Poudre School District, and that artwork is professionally framed and then hangs in the Johannsen Support Services Center Building for one year!!! How cool is that!?!  Way to go kiddo!  We are soooo proud of you!
After school we had our Girl Scout meeting, which was fun, because our last two meetings were canceled due to weather.  The girls made a Valentine card with watercolors, stickers, ribbon and gems, and they came out beautiful!  Jordyn presented me with her card later that evening :)
On Saturday we had a booth in town to sell cookies.  It wasn't as profitable as we were hoping, but Jordyn made out well, because she had a sleepover with two of her friends later that evening.
The girls enjoyed playing dress up, hide and seek, truth or dare, sending each other mail, watching movies and fort building!  They finally fell asleep around 1:30.  By morning they were ready for some sledding fun!  What a great weekend!

Snowy Day

No plowed roads for me today...and check out all the traffic!

Girl Scout Cookie Time!

Thats right, Sunday was the first official day of Girl Scout cookie sales!  Although it was really windy, we headed over to Archer's to set up a booth and see what kind of business we could do.  We only sat out there for an hour or two, and then the sun set behind the mountains and it got chilly, so we decided to hit some neighbors up as well...all in all, we sold 30 boxes!  Not bad for our first day :)
Wanna buy some cookies?

Desolation of Smaug

We took Great Grandma Anita to her first 3D movie on Wednesday (shes 91), The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.  She had seen the old school 3D, but not the Real3D, so it was quite a treat.  After the movie she decided that all movies should be in 3D.  I asked her what was the first movie she saw in the theater, and she said, the Tarzan movies.  :)  She treated us to dinner at El Burrito, and then we headed home.  It was a fun way to spend the day!

Fun at Beaver Meadows ~

Monday was our last day of winter break, and it was free day at Beaver Meadows for locals, so it wasn't hard to decide what we were going to do!
Sledding at Beaver Meadows is awesome, if only for the fact that they have a lift to get you to the top of the hill!  :) heheheheh   No hiking up long steep hills for a quick ride down...nope, you get to flop down in your tube and comfortably ride up to the top!  Here's Jordyn and Andrea riding up ahead of me, and Justin riding up behind me.
Heres a shot of Jordyn and Andrea ready to ride down for their first time...
and down they go...
Andrea was a little nervous, but after one ride, she was good to go!

After 2 1/2 hours of sledding we decided it was time to get a bite in the lodge...burgers and a philly beef sandwich, a few beers and some shots and we were warmed up and ready to go back outside for some ice skating!

We had an absolutely wonderful time and closed the place down! Thank you Beaver Meadows for your very generous gift to the locals...we all had a great time!

Welcome 2014!!!

Once again, we kicked off our New Years Eve by having a seafood feast up at Aunt LeAnns house!  She served up lobster, crab, shrimp, and of course cheese soup!  YUMMO!  I brought the salad and appetizers, but there was so much food to dig into, we never even bothered with the appetizers :)
Justin's cousin Jill joined us for the feast, and we all had a good time :)  The holidays were a little chaotic for all of us, so we were looking forward to a nice quiet evening in the canyon...no traffic to deal with, no loud parties...just the 5 of us kicking back at the house.
Jordyn ate her weight in garlic bread and had fun using the little seafood fork to fish out the crab, while i ignored all dining etiquette and used my fingers :)  LeAnn had to work early the next morning, so we headed down to our place around 10:30 and watched Trading Places.  I love that movie!
Jordyn fell asleep around 11:30 and the rest of us stayed up long enough to wish each other a happy new year, and then we all fell asleep too.  What can i say, it was a super mellow evening, but we needed it!
Today, i spent the afternoon taking down all of the Christmas decorations...sigh!  I really miss the lighted Christmas tree...it really brightens our living room and makes things cozy, but i knew if i didnt do it now, i wouldnt have time later.
Meanwhile, after i cleaned up the living room, Jordyn made another disaster there with her hot wheels.  "Jordyn, The Musical", was performed non-stop while she played, and it was hilarious!  Her cars were all singing to each other about who was the fastest, who was the shiniest, etc...and it went on for almost 2 hours.  Then she moved on to her ponies upstairs, which by the way, are also theater performers, so the singing continues as i type.  :)  Indeed, not a bad way to start off the New Year!  Cheers!
